Inauguration of 6th NQA council

The 6th NQA Council was appointed by the Hon. Minister Dr. Namwandi as from 1 March 2014—28 February 2017.  

The Induction to the new Council took place Monday, 28 April 2014 at NIPAM. Mrs. Martha Mbombo was appointed as Chairperson of the NQA Council. The inauguration ceremony took place on 22 May 2014.

The 5th NQA Council ended 31 December 2013 but was extended to 28 February 2014. The appointment of the 6th NQA Council members is in pursuance of Section 5 of the NQA Act—Act 29 of 1996.  About 56 substantive and alternate members were appointed.  The NQA Council consist of  the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia, the Rector of the Polytechnic of Namibia, CEO of the NQA, Permanent Secretaries accountable for the management and administration of the functions of Agriculture, Communications, Fisheries, Health, Justice, Marine Resources, Social Services, Transport and Works in the Public Service, the Permanent Secretary of National Planning Commission and 21 other members as appointed by the Minister e.g. Office of the Prime  (nominated by the Prime Minister); Public Service Commission (nominated by the Commission; Youth, National Examinations and Assessment Department under Ministry of Education, Women Affairs, Ministry of Labour; Namibia Council for Architects and Quantity Surveyors, Engineering Council of Namibia, National Vocational Training Board; Board for Legal Education, Council for Professional Land Surveyors, Technical Surveyors and Survey Technicians; employers organisations; employee organisations; organisations in the private sector representing agriculture, commerce, finance, mining, tourism and transport and organizations representing the interests of disabled people.
